5 Favourite Films Of 2019

My Favourite Guilty Pleasure Movies

If you ask most of the people close to me they will likely tell you that I have pretty bad taste in films. I won’t deny it though because some of the time that is definitely true. I like to think that I have quite a varied interest in films, with my absolute favourite being The Shining. Something I do love though is a guilty pleasure film, something that maybe you shouldn’t love quite as much as you do, but you watch it over and over again. I wanted to share my favourite guilty pleasure movies!

Pitch Perfect

I remember going to see Pitch Perfect at the cinema way back when I was at university. I only knew about it thanks to a trailer while I was watching something else and it really wasn’t very well advertised here.

The minute that opening music starts up it puts me in a good mood and I know that for the next (nearly) 2 hours I am going to be happy. Cheesy music, funny jokes and references to 80s films… what’s not to love?

Mean Girls

Mean Girls is so fetch!

I think a lot of us can understand what it’s like to go to secondary school/ high school and for there to be different cliques. I was certainly never one of the super popular kids so I guess I can understand what it’s like to be on the outside and wondering what it would be like to be ‘in’. Lindsey Lohan stars as Cady who just moves to a new school after living abroad and being home schooled. She has no idea what high school is really like but somehow manages to get herself involved with ‘The Plastics’.

Mean Girls has me laughing from start to finish. Did you know that 3rd October is known as Mean Girls Day?

The Fast And The Furious

Paul Walker, Vin Diesel and fast cars. The Fast and the Furious was a film that was so different to what I would usually watch. However, it was exciting, loud and I loved it. I guess this should really be just about the first film but I actually really like the whole franchise (minus Tokyo Drift). I have been one of those people to go and watch the new films at the cinema (well, before I had Erin) and I do have most of them on DVD.

Starship Troopers

Starship Troopers is really a terrible film but it in the best possible way. High school graduated sign up to the military in some way or another in the fight to get rid of some huge space alien bugs that are destroying everything and killing a whole load of people. Starship Troopers isn’t a film that takes itself seriously and really, it’s supposed to be pretty bad. I love that it makes fun of itself and that most of it is so over the top.

Dirty Dancing

Who doesn’t love Dirty Dancing? I’m not sure I know many people that don’t like it.

Dirty Dancing has a great soundtrack that makes you want to sing and dance along, it has characters that you root for and of course, it has the famous lines ‘I carried a watermelon’ and ‘No one puts Baby in the corner’. I think Dirty Dancing is probably one of the films that I’ve watched more than most others over the years and I always put it on if I see that it’s on TV.

Magic Mike

Magic Mike is really a terrible film in so many ways. I went to the cinema to see this one with a friend and we did not stop laughing the whole way through. But, when that happens it becomes a film that you love for different reasons. As silly as the film is, I won’t complain at looking at Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey’s character was just genius. Magic Mike is cheesy and  super cringy but it definitely makes me smile!

What is your favourite guilty pleasure movie?
