Erin is only really into a couple of children’s television shows. She’s a massive fan of Paw Patrol and Peppa Pig but not much else to be honest. I try and try to get her to like something else but she’s not having any of it. We recently received the Peppa Pig Interactive Play Mat to review and was so excited when she saw it.
The play mat retails for roughly £19.99 and comes ready to be used, which is pretty perfect when you have a 22 month old who is trying to rip the box open in your hands.
The mat is really quite big, measuring about 90cm on each side so you need a fair amount of floor space for it. We’re lucky to have plenty of space in our living room/ dining room but if you have smaller rooms, you’ll definitely feel the size of this mat. The first thing I looked for was an on/ off button. One of our other Peppa Pig toys doesn’t have one and it makes it a little bit of a pain to put away etc. This on/ off switch is housed on the speaker which is in the bottom left hand corner.
The Peppa Pig Interactive Play Mat is so bright and colourful and so eye catching. The mat has a blue path to follow and numbered sections from 1-5 as well as a Muddle Puddles section. Not only does Peppa Pig feature on the mat but also her friends and family so there are plenty of characters for children to pick out and recognise. Erin spent ages sat at the side of the mat finding the characters she knew the names of and trying to find a dinosaur which isn’t actually there!
The great thing about this mat is that there is loads to do. There are 4 different activities to choose from; numbers, Peppa says, sing a long and find as well as just having fun with the mat on its own. The mat is aimed at children aged 3+ so Erin is still a bit too young for it yet. However, she had loads of fun listening to the music and making pig noises whenever Peppa spoke.
Even though Erin can’t quite follow the functions, she has such a fun time when we get this out to play with. It’s a big hit in our house and I can’t wait until Erin can do more with it.
