According to the weather reports, summer is apparently just around the corner. As this post goes live John, Erin and I are on holiday at Haven in Caister-on-Sea and when I checked the weather while writing this, it was supposed to be between 16ºC and 20ºC all week! So, I thought I’d write about some of my favourite things about summer!
Freshly cut grass
Just the other day I was using our new grass trimmer and it made me remember just how much I love freshly cut grass. We have quite a large garden and now that the weather is nicer the grass is growing pretty fast. John is having to cut it every other week and I just love going out there just after he’s finished. However, now that I have developed hay fever this year, it’s not really the best thing for me now!
Whippy Ice Cream
I love whippy ice cream. I don’t know why but I think it’s so much nicer than any other kind of ice cream. Maybe it’s because I grew up on the coast and I remember having strawberry whippy ice cream at the beach. When I was pregnant with Erin whippy ice cream was my biggest craving and I couldn’t have it!
I can’t wait to take Erin on beach trips this summer and hope that she shares my love of it!
I absolutely hate wearing full shoes. I cannot stand winter and I would give anything to not have to wear boots for those months. If I could get away with it I would wear sandals all year round but I know my feet would probably freeze and fall off. This year I got a few new pairs of sandals and it’s so nice to finally be able to wear them!
As a busy parent who hates getting up in the morning, I love wearing sunglasses. As soon as the sun comes out, so do my sunglasses. I have a pair from Ted Baker that I have had since 2012 and I can’t believe they have lasted this long. I guess you really do get what you pay for though because before I got these I would probably go through at least one pair a year.
What do you love about summer? Let me know in the comments!
