The end of summer

Wow, I can’t believe it’s 5th September already. It is the end of summer and it would seem, the beginning of autumn. It feels like it was only 2 minutes ago that I was writing about the start of the summer holidays. It was 7 weeks ago that most of Erin’s classes stopped. 7 weeks ago the boredom kicked in! I don’t think I really noticed just how much of an impact the classes Erin attends had on her. You may have read my posts about Erin not sleeping. It was only recently that I

Our first family meal

If you follow me on Instagram you’ll know that I regularly post photos of what Erin eats. I like to make new things for her to try and I love seeing her get a bit messy. However, last week we had our first family meal… kind of! Up until recently I have been cooking everything completely separate for Erin. Last week though I decided to make me and John and slow cooker beef stew. When it came to giving Erin her dinner on that day I varied from the normal plan. I gave her some of our

Erin’s unexpected first word!

Yesterday the very unexpected happened. Erin said her first word. Actually, that’s a bit of a lie. Technically she said her first word on Sunday but I wasn’t sure so I didn’t count it. For the past week or so I have really been trying to encourage Erin to copy what I say to her and I’ve been saying Mama, Dada and Pup A LOT! She has been super chatty lately so I thought it might be time for her to learn how to say a word. Yesterday was Bank Holiday Monday and that meant John

Playing with an 8 month old

Erin is turning 8 months old in a couple of days. She has changed so much in the past couple of weeks. One thing I have noticed more than anything is what she is and isn’t interested in any more. I’ve also realised that playing with an 8 month old is hard! Erin has loads of toys. She always has done. We’re very lucky that there is a children’s charity shop around the corner from where we live. We manage to pick up new toys for only 30p-50p a time so Erin has been a

Separation Anxiety: My personal hell!

I always thought I had been really careful with Erin. I had seen some parents with extremely clingy children and I was adamant that wouldn’t be how Erin turned out. Something I was not prepared for was Separation Anxiety. John works full time so naturally, it is me that stays home with Erin during the day. Don’t think I’m complaining about this. I’m not. I absolutely love spending every day with my daughter while I’m on maternity leave. I haven’t figured out going back to work yet so I’m making the most of every day with

Erin’s Hartley’s Lunchbox

Being 8 months old Erin doesn’t really ‘need’ a lunchbox. She doesn’t go to nursery or school yet. However, that doesn’t stop her from using one! Britmums and Hartley’s have challenged bloggers to share their healthy lunchbox ideas.  We were sent a promotional Hartley’s Lunchbox as part of the challenge. Erin and I go out and about most days and this means that I need to take enough food to last. Sometimes we can be out for a whole day and sometimes it can be for a couple of hours. The Hartley’s Lunchbox is big

Baby led weaning

When we decided to start weaning with Erin at 17 weeks we obviously started with purees. Baby led weaning wasn’t an option because she was so young. We started well before the recommended 6 month mark because of Erin’s reflux and it was definitely the right decision. At 8 months old Erin has her own ideas about food. She’s an independant little bugger! For the past month or so Erin has been showing so much interest in whatever me or her dad are eating. She looked desperate to have what we were having. Since that started

Next Autumn/ Winter 16 Wishlist

It’s no secret that I like clothes from Next for Erin. I may have just spent a good chunk of money in the most recent sale preparing for later sizes. That doesn’t stop me from drooling over some items from the Next Autumn/ Winter range. The younger girls collection, specifically the Secret Garden range, has some wonderful purples and greys. These colours and items will go with loads and I could mix and match them really well.  1. 3 pack t-shirts £12-£14 2. Pontelle Cardigan £11-£13 3. Plum Jeggings £8.50-£9.50 4. Pontelle Cardigan £11-£13  There are also two dress sets
