Erin has now been going to nursery for nearly half a year and since she started, she has come home liking all different ways of playing and different kinds of toys. She is so interested in how things work and pulling things apart and putting them back together again. Nursery, along with Thomas the Tank Engine and regular family trips has sparked Erin’s interest in trains. It has really taken Erin quite some time to be into soft toys. I tried to get her to like them as a baby and she wasn’t having any of it so everything we bought her ended up on shelves in her bedroom or in a box. Over the past couple of months though Erin has really started showing more of an interest in certain things and watching shows like Shimmer and Shine have helped to introduce her to things like unicorns, which she now loves. Finding Erin smaller toys to play with is really easy. Smaller toys can hold her attention for roughly 30-45 minutes maximum but a lot of them won’t last more than a couple of months at best. Erin is now at an age where how she plays can change quite quickly but it’s important to also find toys that she can grow up with as well. Now that Erin is at nursery 3 days a week I am finding that she plays quite differently than she used to. I love how going to nursery has made Erin so much more imaginative and creative but this has also meant having to learn how to play with her in new ways. Erin is a huge Peppa Pig fan and snorts like a pig as soon as it comes on television or she sees something with Peppa on it. Up until recently, Erin has never really done puzzles before. We have had plenty of shape sorters but nothing like a puzzle. To get Erin started we thought the Peppa Pig ‘My First Floor Puzzle’ from Ravensburger would be good. We’re now at the end of November and it’s pretty cold outside now! Erin and I get stuck indoors a lot of the time due to not being able to drive; we don’t want to get soaked before we even get somewhere! However, spending a few days in a row indoors with a nearly 2 year old means constantly having to think of fun and different things to do so they don’t get bored. Peppa Pig is one of the few television shows that Erin will happily watch and enjoy. She ‘oinks’ at the television when it comes on and it was one of the first things she really recognised. At times I feel like Paw Patrol and In The Night Garden taken over so when I saw the Peppa Pig Water Filled Muddy Puddle from Bladez Toyz, I fell in love a bit.
